Laura Bayer has experienced a lot as a working student in the Marketing department - from a visit to the popular online marketing trade fair DMEXCO to participating in bauma 2022, the world's largest construction machinery trade fair and therefore the most important event for SENNEBOGEN. In an interview, Laura explains why her time at SENNEBOGEN was so special.
Laura, how did you come to SENNEBOGEN?
I studied Tourism Management at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology. When I was looking for a working student job after my internship semester, I had to look across all sectors, as the tourism industry initially had very few vacancies due to the pandemic. I already knew SENNEBOGEN through my circle of friends and had heard a lot of positive things so far. So I applied for a job in online marketing and started here a short time later.
What were your tasks in Online Marketing?
In the beginning, I mainly gained insights into the area of social media, how to design content correctly, how to run community management properly and how to place paid ads on different channels. I then became more and more involved in website design and maintenance, where I implemented projects independently and also learned a lot about search engine optimization. I then spent a total of three semesters as a working student at SENNEBOGEN.
What was your personal highlight during your time at SENNEBOGEN?
There were quite a few highlights, but two things in particular have stuck in my mind. Firstly, I was able to visit a very popular online marketing trade fair, DMEXCO in Cologne, with my colleagues. Secondly, I also spent nine days at bauma 2022, which was a special highlight. The project also kept the entire marketing team very busy in the run-up to the trade fair. I was also involved in the landing page for bauma and created the content for the website.
Following your time as a working student, you wrote your bachelor's thesis in collaboration with SENNEBOGEN. What was your topic?
My colleague Dr. Franziska Limbrunner approached me with a topic suggestion from the field of press work. She also supported me professionally during my bachelor's thesis with the topic "Optimizing the evaluation and analysis of online media monitoring with a monitoring tool". This gave me completely new insights into a subject area that was previously unknown to me and I even achieved the top grade of 1.0.
How would you sum up your time at SENNEBOGEN and what's next for you?
I really learned a lot of new things during my time here and gained insights into the "real" work processes within a company. This has certainly enriched my studies. Even as a working student at SENNEBOGEN, you quickly have to take on responsibility and are considered a fully-fledged team member. This was also challenging at times, but essentially my time as a working student showed me that I feel comfortable in marketing and would like to develop further in this area. That's why I'm now doing a Master's degree in economics, so that I can gain a foothold in marketing later on.
