1952

Founding year

At the age of 21, Erich Sennebogen founded the company SENNEBOGEN for the production of agricultural machines in the Lower Bavarian town of Pilling near Straubing.

1953

The company grows

The enterprise enjoys rapid growth and soon has 13 employees. The first SENNEBOGEN manure loaders are built.

1954

Innovation for agriculture

Innovation and increasing mechanization for agriculture: the S 500.

1957

Entry into the construction industry

The first mechanical SENNEBOGEN crawler cranes are developed and produced for the construction industry.

1959

New plant built in Straubing

The rapid growth of the company forces SENNEBOGEN to expand: a new plant is opened at the train station in Straubing.

1960

Production anniversary: 1000th automatic material handler

The 1000th automatic material handler leaves the plant in 1960.

1963

SENNEBOGEN’s motto

Then just as now, all products made by the company are characterized by one thing: the focus on designing and producing our own solutions wherever possible. Erich Sennebogen coins the saying “There’s no such thing as no can do” as the company’s motto.

1964

Launch of hydraulic excavator production

Alongside the traditional mechanical duty cycle crawler cranes, SENNEBOGEN develops its first hydraulic excavators from 1962, which enter production for the first time in 1964.

1966

Innovation: Easy crawler crane transport

Innovation: the first duty cycle crawler crane with hydraulic lattice boom folding function, ensuring that the machine can be transported easily and put into operation quickly. These innovative machines are also launched on the market as truck-mounted cranes.

1969

World premier: The first fully hydraulic duty cycle crawler crane

World premier: SENNEBOGEN develops the world’s first fully hydraulic duty cycle crawler crane. With its combination-winch pre-selection function, the machine represents a milestone in HD cycle crawler crane technology.

1972

First hydraulic excavator

The first SENNEBOGEN hydraulic excavator with modern plastic chassis and wide angle of vision is produced.

1972

Special solution for structural engineering

The SK 15 with luffing fly boom in structural engineering: the mobile prefabricated house crane for pre-fabrication parts – a special market requirement from Holland.

1973

Export and globalization

The company recognizes the opportunities of internationalization early on and has been actively taking advantage of them since 1973: globalization and export help spread awareness for the SENNEBOGEN brand – including in the Arab states and Africa.

Reliability

SENNEBOGEN guarantees not only availability but also reliability – all over the world! Specific market requirements, such as the extremely low temperatures in Ust Ilimsk, Siberia, lead to pioneering developments.

1976

Hydraulic elevating cab

SENNEBOGEN develops a fully hydraulic duty cycle crawler crane with hydraulically elevating cab.

1980

Innovation: hydraulically adjustable articulated boom

World premier: SENNEBOGEN develops the hydraulically adjusting articulated boom (GAUH). This innovation changes the face of the hydraulic excavator market and is still the global standard today.

1984

Carrier machines

Since 1984, SENNEBOGEN has been developing and producing all kinds of special carrier machines. Well-known customers successfully use this special equipment all over the world.

1986

Product innovation: SR 28

Innovation: SENNEBOGEN delivers the first SR 28 special – a pioneering development for modern, effective material handling.

1986

New boom range

Innovation: SENNEBOGEN develops machines with a boom range of 20 m for effective, stationary material handling.

Stuttgart Design Award

The SENNEBOGEN crawler excavator SR 28 receives the Stuttgart Design Award at bauma 1986.

1989

Blue Angel ecolabel

Development order for the quietest material handler in the world! SENNEBOGEN receives the Blue Angel ecolabel for the quietest mobile material handler over 10 t.

1990

Newly built Plant 3 in Wackersdorf

The new plant in Wackersdorf is the next step in the expansion strategy: an ultra-modern production plant for mobile material handlers is built on a 160,000 m² site.

1992

First telescopic crane from SENNEBOGEN

Innovation: SENNEBOGEN designs a unique telescopic crane with mobile or crawler undercarriage and trend-setting technology.

1996

Acquisition and modernization of a site in Hungary

The company acquires and modernizes a supplier in Balatonfüred, Hungary, and quickly develops it into a modern supplier for steel assemblies and welded constructions.

1996

New product line: Green Line

SENNEBOGEN bundles its longstanding experience and creates a completely new range of high-performance material handling machines: the Green Line series is born.

1997

Founding president of the Bavarian Business Association

Erich Sennebogen Sr. is named founding president of the Vereinigung der Bayerischen Wirtschaft e.V. (Bavarian Business Association).

2000

Subsidiary established in the USA

American sales and service operation established in Stanley, North Carolina, USA, under the name SENNEBOGEN LLC.

2003

New product category: Telescopic handler

World premiere: The 305 Multihandler with elevating driver’s cab appears on the market.

2005

Entry into the timber handling market

Innovation: The new 7 series for timber handling celebrates its premiere.

2005

Holding in ASAM hotel in Straubing

The four-star ASAM hotel in Straubing is completed and opened with a high investment of SENNEBOGEN: with five conference rooms for up to 250 participants, ASAM is a leading conference hotel in the region of Lower Bavaria.

2006

New product: 608 Multicrane

Innovation: SENNEBOGEN works with dealers and customers to develop and produce the 608 Multicrane with elevating cab – a powerful all-round machine for construction.

2008

Newly built Plant 2 in Straubing

Construction of the additional plant 2 in the Straubinger Harbor industrial park with a total area of 125,000 m² and an investment of more than € 30 million.

2009

Subsidiary established in Singapore

Foundation of the subsidiary SENNEBOGEN Pte. Ltd. in Singapore in the German Center.

2010

Expansion of SENNEBOGEN LLC

Opening of the enlarged American location near Charlotte with a spare parts warehouse and in-house training rooms and halls. Support is now provided for over 50 dealers with 250 service bases.

Product innovation: 7700 crawler crane

Presentation at bauma and launch of the new 7700 crawler crane in the new 300 ton class – with a simple and cost-saving transport concept.

New motto “Go for Green”

Bauma 2010 marked the launch of our new motto “Go for Green.”

2011

Erich Sennebogen: 1931 - 2011

On 21 March 2011, our company founder Erich Sennebogen Sr. left us at the age of 79, having guided the destiny of our company with confidence and certainty for nearly six decades.

Anniversary: 60 years of SENNEBOGEN

SENNEBOGEN celebrates its 60th anniversary! The logo stands for 60 successful years: the individual “stones” represent the sales and service partners of the company, while the “diamonds” represent the four production sites and subsidiaries.

Introduction of the E-Series with Green Efficiency

Innovation: SENNEBOGEN successfully launches the new E-Series with Green Efficiency technology on the market. The fuel-saving and environmentally friendly high-performance machines are perfectly suited to demanding continuous use in material handling.

“Green heart” at bauma 2013

SENNEBOGEN presented itself on a bigger-than-ever 2120 m², thus forming the “green heart” of bauma 2013.

Expansion of sales location in the USA

SENNEBOGEN LLC expands its spare parts warehouse by 4000 m²: The facility of North America's market leader in material handlers combines administrative and sales offices with a training center and a spare parts warehouse under a single roof over 9000 m² in area.

Expansion of ASAM hotel in Straubing

Expansion of the four-star Superior Hotel ASAM with over 100 rooms, ballroom and spa.

Opening of academy & museum

The company sets another milestone its history with the opening of the SENNEBOGEN Academy and the Erich Sennebogen Museum in May 2014. In its facilities, the SENNEBOGEN Academy GmbH & Co. KG houses a modern machine training center, including demonstration site, as well as spacious training and conference rooms.

Innovation: 6113 telescopic crawler crane

The Straubing-based company increases the maximum load capacity of its telescopic cranes by 50% with the new SENNEBOGEN 6113. 120 t safe working load, a proven boom concept, and the high level of flexibility set the new telescopic crawler crane apart.

Expansion of Plant 3 in Wackersdorf

Expansion of Plant 3 in Wackersdorf – New steel construction hall with a total usable area of 4000 m².

2016

bauma 2016

77 dealers from 55 different countries visited SENNEBOGEN’s 2016 bauma booth and special highlights, like the 300t Duty Cycle Crane 6300 HD, were presented before the international audience.

Product innovation: 9300 mobile port crane

SENNEBOGEN entered the mobile port crane sector in May 2017 with its 9300. The 9300 E from SENNEBOGEN boasts a high load capacity across the entire work area, while the mobile undercarriage with all-wheel steering with 14 wheel sets ensures maneuverability and a low ground pressure.

Expansion of Plant 2 in Straubing

In 2017, SENNEBOGEN expanded the plant at the port in Straubing by 35,000 m². 

2018

Preserving values - taking responsibility: Family business in the third generation

SENNEBOGEN is already preparing the successful continuation of the family business in the 3rd generation: since 01.07.2017 Anton Sennebogen (right) has taken over the Controlling division, Sebastian Sennebogen (left) joined the new Multi Line product range on 01.12.2018. Alexander Sennebogen (centre) is still studying, but is regularly present at all important events.
