For the profession of technical product designer and had already completed several internships. While searching for an apprenticeship, I came across SENNEBOGEN. I was already familiar with SENNEBOGEN, and it had a good reputation. I also found the company and its machines interesting.
This September will mark ten years since I started at SENNEBOGEN. In 2016, I began my apprenticeship as a Technical Product Designer, which I shortened to three years and successfully completed. After my apprenticeship, I moved to what is now the Standards, Configuration, and Master Data Management department . At first, I was responsible for small parts inventory. After some time, an internal opportunity arose to move into the Master Data Management division. For this position, it’s not only technical understanding that’s important, but above all, knowledge of our systems and processes. I’ve been in my current position since March 2021.
My main responsibility is to approve new parts and assemblies and assign the corresponding SENNEBOGEN part numbers. As part of this process, we review the master data, verify the stored information, and ensure that all data is entered correctly. To do this, we work closely with the design engineers. While we do not review the technical design itself, we do ensure that all information in the system is complete and accurate. Only then can the parts be approved for further processes. I find the interactions with other departments particularly exciting. I also exchange information with colleagues from control engineering, technical planning (TB), purchasing, and production. This gives me valuable insight into a wide variety of company departments.
My technical training had already given me a solid professional foundation. Nevertheless, I wanted to expand my knowledge, particularly in the areas of business and organization.
I was interested in how my work affects other areas, such as purchasing, production, and warehousing, and how the various processes within the company are interconnected. Through this continuing education, I wanted to gain a better understanding of these connections while also furthering my personal development.
I was granted time off from work to pursue my continuing education as a Technical Business Administrator. The coursework itself lasted about half a year, followed by the exams and the oral defense. In total, the training program lasted about nine months. The course was primarily in-person, supplemented by a few online sessions. Looking back, the in-person format was the right choice for me. The material covered was very extensive, and the direct interaction with the instructors really helped me in my studies.
From the very beginning, my goal was to complete the continuing education program to the best of my ability. The classes were intensive, and the course load was sometimes heavy. Above all, it was the personal challenge that motivated me. When you decide to pursue continuing education, you want to make the most of it. That very thought stayed with me throughout the entire program.
For successfully completing my studies, I received the Master's Award from the Bavarian State Government. That was, of course, a very special moment. The award was presented during the graduation ceremony.
In addition to continuing my own education, I’m proud that I’m now able to share my knowledge with others. For about two years now, I’ve been conducting KeyTech training sessions for new employees. In these sessions, I teach the basics of our PLM system and explain how master data is created and maintained. The fact that I’m now able to conduct training sessions myself and introduce new colleagues to this system shows me just how much I’ve learned over the past few years.
One of the main reasons I feel so at home at SENNEBOGEN is the people. The team spirit in our department is exceptionally strong. We support one another and can always count on each other. I get along very well with everyone here. That’s something I really appreciate—and it’s not something you find everywhere.
I am very satisfied with my current position and would like to continue building on my experience. At the same time, I am open to further opportunities for professional development. After completing the Technical Business Administrator program, the Technical Business Management program could be an interesting next step. While this isn’t a concrete plan at the moment, I could definitely see myself pursuing it in the future.
