As an all-around crane, a new SENNEBOGEN 608 Multicrane works as a service and assembly crane in iron ore mining in Western Australia for the Australian company Bis industries. Whether the task at hand is assembling new facilities or unloading material, the flexible crawler telescopic crane is the equipment of choice.
Today the company, Bis industries, can look back on a history of more than 100 years as a service provider in the area of transport and logistics. What started in 1900 with horse and cart and steam-powered vehicles has today become an industrial service enterprise. The world's largest extraction and mining companies rely on the Australian logistics experts. 200 km east of Geraldtown, a large-scale, open-pit mining project, the Karara iron ore project, has been underway since 2013. Here iron ore is extracted in open-pit mining and is refined in an additional process. A high-quality magnetite concentrate is produced through breaking, screening, filtering, and drying.
Bis Industries handles transport of the ores extracted in the production process. A mobile conveyor belt transports the material through various processing steps. The SENNEBOGEN 608 Multicrane is used to set up and dismantle this conveyor belt. Equipped with a telescopic boom, 20 m in length, and a 350 kg work platform, assembly and repairs on the system can be easily executed. Moreover, with the 608 Multicrane the different attachments can be changed quickly. The SENNEBOGEN 608 is ideally equipped, whether the task at hand is unloading heavy machine parts from the trucks with the fixed hook, or whether material must be positioned via the 6 t winch in maintenance implementation.
Equipped with a powerful 91 kW diesel engine and the telescopic crawler undercarriage, the machine is not only flexibly on the move on the extensive site it also offers a particularly high level of stability. For implementation in the open-pit mine, the 608 Multicrane has been equipped with additional railings and a fire extinguishing system. The comfortable tilting and elevating Maxcab guarantees an ideal overview for the operator and in addition is equipped with a positive pressure ventilation system.
Due to the rigorous requirements imposed in daily operation and the remote implementation site, a high level of reliability and easy maintenance were the key criteria for the owners. The Australian Service and Sales Partner, PACE Cranes, is quickly on-site if needed and ensures a supply of spare parts that is as fast as possible.
Statement:
"The SENNEBOGEN 608 Multicrane convinces through its versatility and flexibility in daily operation. For the demanding implementation in the open-pit mine a high level of reliability and minimal ground pressure were particularly important for us. With the 608 Multicrane we have found the perfect machine for all maintenance tasks." Jason McCabe, Technical Services Manager - Bis industries.
