Two apprentices from SENNEBOGEN, together with 24 other vocational students from the Mathias-von-Flurl vocational school in Straubing, had the opportunity to spend three weeks travelling to Dublin in Ireland to get to know both the country and the language better.
As part of a study trip to Ireland, Maria Betz and Patrik Salihu, who are both in their second year of training as an industrial clerk, stayed with a host family for several weeks. The trip was supported by their employer SENNEBOGEN.
The aim of the study trip to Dublin was to improve their English language skills and to get to know working methods in a local company. Maria Betz was able to gain an insight into a tax firm: "It was really exciting to get a taste of a different company. Above all, the colleagues were very friendly and made it easy for me to get started," says Maria Betz. In addition to the school activities and working life in Ireland, the vocational students were also offered a wide range of leisure activities: from the Giants Causeway to the famous Cliffs of Moher.
Trainee Maria Betz described the excursion to Belfast as one of the best experiences of the trip, where they were able to visit other sights in addition to the Titanic Museum. They also had the opportunity to experience the Irish public holiday "Saint Patrick's Day", which takes place every year on 17 March, and watch traditional parades before ending the evening in the famous "Temple Bar" with a good atmosphere and great live music.
Julia Gohlke, commercial training manager at SENNEBOGEN, is proud of her apprentices: "Maria and Patrik have gained new experiences and faced the challenges abroad. SENNEBOGEN consciously promotes school trips abroad, because these not only support personal development, but also enrich our apprentices' professional, linguistic and intercultural skills." In the future, SENNEBOGEN would also like to support its apprentices outside of their work and vocational school experiences with a wide range of activities, such as study trips and apprentice excursions.
