Creative redesign of oil barrels into seating furniture

As part of the nationwide craft competition “MACH WAS!” (DO SOMETHING!), students from the Gregor-von-Scherr-Realschule Neunburg vorm Wald, together with trainees from SENNEBOGEN in Wackersdorf, implemented an innovative project that impressively demonstrates that creativity and craftsmanship are not only emphasized in theory, but also brought to life in practice.

The 9th grade crafts talent group took up the challenge of creating stylish and functional seating for the schoolyard from old oil drums - a waste product from the SENNEBOGEN company.

The approach: creative and sustainable: the project impressively demonstrates how seemingly worthless materials can be transformed into functional and aesthetic seating furniture. The discarded oil drums were first sawn open and processed to form the basic body of the furniture. The young people made the seats from old wooden panels.

The company itself took care of the final finish: The seating furniture was painted in a striking shade of green, which both emphasizes the industrial design and makes the connection to the company visible. This turned the furniture into real eye-catchers on the school grounds.
