Success story: From temporary worker to department manager

Steven Pazdera has had a truly remarkable career. He joined SENNEBOGEN as a temporary worker more than 13 years ago. Now he is a department manager and leads a team of around 18 people. He feels comfortable in his role and explains in an interview why interest and passion are the keys to success.

Steven, what does your career look like?

I had already traveled around a bit before I ended up in Straubing. I'm originally from Brandenburg. I did my A-levels in Paraguay and then spent four years in the German army, where I was eventually stationed near Straubing. Further training has always been important to me and that's why I did an industrial master craftsman for road transport . During this time, I was a temporary worker at SENNEBOGEN, where I was taken on permanently after less than a year.

At first I worked in the paint shop for several years and supported my then foreman as a supervisor. Around 2 ½ years ago, the production structures at our plant were adjusted and I was offered the position of head of the boom construction department . I was very pleased about this and am still happy with this decision today.

How were the structures in production adapted?

We have grown a lot in recent years and the teams have become larger and more complex. Now there is a new level to support the department heads in managing employees. We call them section heads.

On the one hand, this has brought more structure and organization to the various departments and, on the other, it is a great development opportunity for motivated colleagues who aspire to a management position.

What is your role as head of the boom construction department?

I make sure that our cantilevers and telescopic booms are completed on time and in the right quality . To do this, I am constantly working on making our processes in the department more efficient and ensuring that we adhere to structured workflows. Of course, one of the most important things is employee management. I want to deploy my employees where their strengths and interests lie.

How would you describe SENNEBOGEN as an employer?

At SENNEBOGEN, employee well-being counts. Appreciation is a top priority here, be it through events such as our big family party last year, where you had the opportunity to present your workplace to your own family.

We are doers and go-getters and that is the most important thing for a successful career at SENNEBOGEN: motivation, passion for challenging technology and the courage to drive change. That's what sets us apart.
