In Breda, Netherlands, the electric SENNEBOGEN 653 Electro Battery crane supported the construction of a modern depot for electric buses. With emission-free construction machinery such as this, the project in the Dutch province of North Brabant focused on sustainable construction site operations and promoted the environmentally friendly expansion of public transport. The depot is used to house, charge, and maintain electric buses and was completed in 2025.
The construction company Van der Ven B.V. from Brakel has been in business for over 55 years and focuses its activities on infrastructure construction, among other things. The bus depot construction site in Breda is located directly next to a nature reserve, which is why minimizing nitrogen emissions was particularly important here. In addition to NOX filters, emission-free electric machines were also used. The electric SENNEBOGEN Crane 653 Electro Battery crane, which operates quietly, efficiently, and emission-free, played a central role.
The crane operator’s overall impression was consistently positive, highlighting the high level of comfort, the intuitive operation, and the outstanding visibility from the cab. The crane also demonstrated its strong performance in daily operations. When working from the same position, it can easily operate for a full day, and in some cases even two days, without interruption. There is always sufficient capacity available to complete the workday reliably. During operation, no noticeable difference can be felt between a pump powered by a diesel engine and one powered by an electric motor.

Local SENNEBOGEN dealer Van den Heuvel also played a key role in supporting the project: quick availability and expert advice ensured smooth construction site operations. The integrated machine app also displays the machine status, charging time, and any malfunctions at all times, while the machine itself is easy to maintain and reliable – ideal for sustainable construction sites.
The use of the SENNEBOGEN 653 Electro Battery crane in Breda impressively demonstrated how emission-free construction machinery enables sustainable construction projects in sensitive environmental zones. High operating comfort, digital support, and full performance make the crane a future-proof solution for sustainable construction site operations in the Netherlands.
