In October it was finally time – after 3.5 years, bauma opened its doors again with only a slight delay. It is the yardstick for the industry and also for our company, the deadline for innovations and major projects. For months beforehand, everyone involved was already feverishly anticipating it and enjoying the renewed on-site trade fair feeling. First and foremost Jessica Hennek, who as project manager was responsible for the organization of the trade fair appearance.
SENNEBOGEN has been exhibiting at bauma for more than 60 years. The trade fair has always been very important, and 2022 is no different.
Overall, bauma 2022 was marked by records in every respect for SENNEBOGEN. With 12 machines, there were more exhibits than ever before and more dealers and booth staff than ever before to look after customers. And, the frequency of contact and the uniquely high number of quotation requests show that the customers also came in large numbers. At the trade fair booth, the 12 exhibits were literally “stacked” on top of each other – for example the 824 G was placed under the gantry of the 885 G. Additional exhibition space was even rented for the exhibition of a customer machine.
In contrast, the planning phase this year was different. There was constant planning uncertainty, which forced exhibitors to plan for multiple scenarios or often only make decisions at the last minute. The fact that bauma was in the autumn season this time also required adjustments to lighting, heating and the general weather resistance of the stand equipment. “Independently of this, of course, we also try to develop ourselves further in general at every trade fair, for example, we have optimized our food service, introduced apps for better information and for ordering fan merchandise and food, and much more.”
With regard to the exhibits, the exhibition of the new 885 G material handler proved to be both a challenge and a highlight. After all, putting a machine with an operating weight of 320t on display at a trade show – even if the trade show is bauma – is an undertaking that should not be underestimated. “But since it has been rather quiet on the trade fair scene for about two years now, we thought this bauma was the place for an eye-catcher,” explains Jessica Hennek. Transport on a total of 15 trucks was not easy to coordinate, let alone coping with the limited space and the short set-up and dismantling time stipulated by Messe München. The power required for the setup also had to be procured via a 300 kVA unit delivered exclusively for this purpose.
The celebratory highlight of the trade fair week was once again the legendary stand party, at which around 650 guests celebrated together in high spirits and brought the dance floor to life. But there were also many “small highlights” that made the trade fair a special experience: individually embroidered fan merchandise for the guests, the new mascot, the SENNI giraffe, which was enjoyed by more than just children, and much more. “I think everyone will certainly have taken their own highlights and memories of the event home with them,” says Hennek.
Almost nowhere do you experience as much emotion as at the trade fair. Memorable experiences are created for customers, dealers and employees. The most important thing that visitors to the SENNEBOGEN booth should take away with them is an informative feel-good experience. “It is our commitment to ourselves that visitors are served in a very customer oriented manner in all their needs,” emphasizes Hennek. This goes beyond the mere presentation of new machines, because at bauma every guest was able to experience the SENNEBOGEN brand literally – from the friendly greeting, to a culture-appropriate selection of food and evening events taking place almost daily in the Paulaner am Nockherberg. Of course, the focus is just as much on personal support. SENNEBOGEN sales partners from over 60 countries were present at the booth, so that every visitor could receive information in their own language. There was also a press evening for journalists, booth tours for students, and much more.
“In addition to the perceptible family-like atmosphere, it was important to us to literally make our technologies and developments “experienceable” at the trade fair – and our innovations now include much more than tried-and-tested machine technology,” says Hennek explaining the new claim. In addition to VR applications and explanatory videos, guests were also provided with touchable technology in the specially set up technology center. They were able to try out new technologies such as the Dual Power Management of battery-powered machines and the Green Hybrid energy recovery system using explanatory models. They could sit in the new Maxcab of the G series, and digital services such as the new SENtrack and the recently introduced series of lubricants and auxiliaries also had their place in the Green Heart of bauma 2022 this year.
