The Straubing machine builder SENNEBOGEN is supporting the zoo with 5,000 euros. In addition to the continuous modernization and expansion of the facilities, the donation will primarily flow into the new lion enclosure so that visitors can continue to marvel at the king of the animals in a new, modern enclosure and experience them up close.
The animal residents at Straubing Zoo enjoyed a special visit last week after a long coronavirus break. Not only are the animals now able to see their regular visitors again, they have also recently received financial support from SENNEBOGEN. On their visit to the zoo, senior manager Maria Sennebogen and member of the management board Veronika Meier brought along a donation of 5,000 euros, which they presented to Director Wolfgang Peter on behalf of the company.
With around 200 species of native and tropical mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish, almost 2,000 animals live in the Straubing Zoo. However, the large number of animals also require a lot of work and, above all, space. "Something needs to be repaired or changed somewhere on the enclosures on almost a daily basis, and we are constantly expanding and modernizing our facilities,"says Peter, outlining the challenge.
Maria Sennebogen and Veronika Meier arrived just in time with the donation, as the lion’s enclosure is due to be expanded. In the future, even more space will be created for the king of the animals in the Straubing Zoo. "We are delighted to be able to help the Straubing Zoo at a difficult time with low visitor numbers," stresses Maria Sennebogen. "It is also important to keep the wildlife park with its biodiversity attractive, especially for young visitors, and to offer a great opportunity for family trips", adds Veronika Meier.
"We are delighted with the generous donation and hope that our lion project will find many more active supporters like SENNEBOGEN in the future," concludes Director Peter. During the visit, two alpacas joined the SENNEBOGEN representatives and the director and also showed great interest in the donation. Peter assured us that they would also benefit from the donation in return for their outstanding performance during the photoshoot.
