The SENNEBOGEN 2200 turns its hand to bridge building in Algeria

The Algerian SAPTA construction company specializes in road and traffic infrastructure construction, and is currently working on a commission to build a bridge in Algiers. In doing so, a SENNEBOGEN 2200 crawler crane is being used — the ideal machine for all of the lifting required.

In July this year, service and sales partner EURL SM Maintenance delivered a SENNEBOGEN 2200 crawler crane to SAPTA in Algeria. The machine was taken straight to its first place of action — a bridge construction site close to the capital of Algiers. There, the crawler crane is being set to work lifting, piece by piece, the steel support for a 600-m long bridge piece on to the foundations. The crane will also be used for a range of other lifting tasks required at the construction site. Thanks to a winching power of 170 kN and quick rope speeds, even the most heavy of steel supports can be placed in precisely the right position in no time at all. Once SAPTA has completed construction, this huge construction site will be an approach road to a new industrial area. The project is challenging, particularly in light of the tight schedule and stringent quality expectations. Managers at the company emphasize that the decision to favor a SENNEBOGEN machine was taken, in particular, on account of the excellent quality and reliable service provided by the local sales partner, EURL SM Maintenance. In particular, the operators praise the spacious and comfortable maXcab cab in their day-to-day work. The cab not only offers ergonomic comfort, but also a superb view and optimum safety features.

Thanks to the telescopic crawler unit, the machine is quick to move and also stable and secure when on terrain. SAPTA is extremely pleased with the performance of the machine and is full of praise for its excellent handling. The SENNEBOGEN 2200 has successfully mastered its first assignment and will continue to play a vital role in the future at SAPTA construction sites.
