SENNEBOGEN electric material handler replaces old port cranes in Szczecin, Poland

The Polish sales and service partner Bax Baumaschinen delivered a new SENNEBOGEN 835 electric material handler to Szczecin, Poland. In that city, the Andreas SP. z.o.o. company handles tons of bulk materials at the port.

A state-of-the-art SENNEBOGEN material handler has been working at the port of Szczecin since June 2015. The material handler not only has an impressive, unique design but above all attractive, low operating costs thanks to its electric drive. Strategically well located, Andreas SP. z.o.o. has been handling primarily grain and animal feed at the Szczecin Oder river port since the 1920s. As a modern service enterprise, the company now takes care of 42 percent of the animal feed and fertilizer that is handled in Szczecin.

An ideal view and a 19 m range for unloading ships

With the investment in a new SENNEBOGEN material handler, Andreas is not only increasing its handling capacity but simultaneously minimizing operating costs thanks to the electric drive. The new electric material handler delivered by the Polish sales and service partner Bax Baumaschinen in mid 2015 is equipped with an efficient 160 kW electric motor and 19 m long ship equipment for port handling.  For managing director Marcin Ussorowski, the purchase has more than paid for itself. "The special design of the material handler with a pylon and elevated cab offers perfect conditions for unloading bulk materials at the port." In addition, the electric machine saves up to 50% in operating costs in comparison to conventional diesel machines. The service costs are also lower. With the 4.5 m pylon and the Maxcab industrial cab that can be elevated 3 m and extended 2.6 m, the driver has an unobstructed view of the ship's hull.  Where several rotary crawler cranes with rope grabs had to laboriously unload ships previously, the new hydraulic material handler now securely stands on its wide-gauge crawler undercarriage and can be moved along the dock thanks to its flexible power supply. This not only saves the costs of up to six old cranes, as managing director Ussorowski confirms, but likewise reduces operating costs and emissions.

The topic of safety was also particularly important for the responsible people at Andreas. Circumferential step grids ensure safe access to the cab and maintenance work, and an extensive LED package and surrounding cameras offer an optimum all-round view in daily operation.
