MÜLHEIM PIPECOATINGS (MPC) is part of the EUROPIPE Group, global market leader in the production of longitudinally and spirally welded large pipes in practically all desired dimensions.
MPC is responsible for coating the pipes at the site in Mühlheim and acts as a competence centre for the two sites in the USA and the site in Brazil - precision work for professionals. External and internal coatings are offered for a wide range of requirements - for laying pipes either underwater or overground. The coating is adapted to the climate requirements and properties of the medium to be transported.
Correct storage, delivery and logistics are extremely important for the gigantic pipes. Around five million tons of large pipe are moved each year - with four SENNEBOGEN 870 Mobile Special and a 870 Mobile. The team led by Logistics Manager Hans-Joachim Jagowski has the six storage sites covering 140,000 m2 well under control with the SENNEBOGEN machines. Caution is extremely important during handling - the pipes are extremely stable and robust, but deformation or damage caused during storage or loading must be avoided. The pipes are therefore moved safely via vacuum traverse on the SENNEBOGEN machines and stacked up to 10m high. They are then loaded onto HGVs or railway carriages again at a later stage.
All this takes place with extreme caution and taking into account clear guidelines for storage and delivery. Each machine can store or load up to 32 pipes an hour. Four of the five machines are equipped with a port mobile undercarriage, offering a significantly larger outrigger area for maximum stability and safety. The reliability and performance of the SENNEBOGEN machines have impressed all involved at MPC, as has the extremely important support provided by the sales and service partner Baumaschinen Rhein-Ruhr (BRR).
Statement:
"We leave nothing to chance when storing or loading - everything is planned and organised. We therefore place great importance on the SENNEBOGEN machines which have been optimally adapted to suit our requirements." Hans-Joachim Jagowski, Logistics Manager at MPC
