Duty cycle crane for offshore operations: Dutch Offshore expands its SENNEBOGEN fleet

With the ceremonial handover of another SENNEBOGEN 6220 HD on May 7, 2026, Dutch Offshore Cranes (DO) of the Netherlands is further expanding its fleet for demanding offshore operations. Headquartered in Nederhorst den Berg, the company specializes internationally in offshore heavy-lift operations, subsea cable handling, and complex logistics and lifting projects in the maritime sector, and has relied on SENNEBOGEN machines for many years.

The symbolic key handover took place in the presence of Erich Sennebogen, Michiel Zwagerman (CEO of Dutch Offshore Cranes), Marc Timmerman (CEO of Van den Heuvel), and Rienk Nadema (Commercial Manager at Van den Heuvel). With this second 220-ton duty cycle crane, Dutch Offshore is expanding its capacity for international offshore projects while simultaneously strengthening its long-standing partnership with SENNEBOGEN and its Dutch distribution partner, Van den Heuvel.

As part of the handover, Dutch Offshore also received a custom-made customer gift from SENNEBOGEN. The specially crafted wooden pillar with an integrated lighted sphere bears the logos of all participating companies and symbolizes the long-standing partnership as well as numerous successfully completed projects.

Duty cycle cranes for offshore operations worldwide

Dutch Offshore carries out projects at international job sites—anywhere “where water plays a role,” as the company itself describes it. Its range of operations extends from offshore lifting operations and dredging applications to heavy-lift transport, port logistics, and complex maritime infrastructure projects.

To meet these diverse requirements, Dutch Offshore relies on a highly configurable duty cycle crane. The new SENNEBOGEN 6220 HD will be used in the future primarily for offshore heavy-lift projects and demanding heavy-duty operations. Thanks to its robust construction, a lifting capacity of up to 220 metric tons, and flexible equipment, the machine is suitable for a wide variety of applications—from traditional lifting operations and dredging to complex operations on floating units.

It was precisely this versatility that was a decisive factor in Dutch Offshore’s investment decision. Internally , the company therefore describes the cable-operated excavator as the “Swiss Army knife” of its offshore fleet—a machine capable of handling a wide variety of tasks using just a single platform.

Why Dutch Offshore Is Once Again Relying on SENNEBOGEN

In addition to technical performance, Dutch Offshore’s investment decision was primarily driven by reliability, service, and a partnership-based approach.

“In our 24/7 offshore industry, unplanned surprises are the biggest risk factor. This is exactly where the reliability of the machines and the way challenges are solved together make all the difference,” says Michiel Zwagerman, describing the collaboration with SENNEBOGEN.

From Dutch Offshore’s perspective, what is particularly impressive are robust machine designs, service-friendly constructions, and reliable components that remain operational even under demanding offshore conditions.

Equally important is collaboration throughout the entire lifecycle of the machines. Technical challenges cannot be completely avoided in complex offshore projects. What matters most, however, is how quickly and solution-oriented manufacturers, dealers, and operators respond together. This spirit of partnership has characterized the collaboration with SENNEBOGEN for many years.

Long-standing partnership continues to grow

With this latest investment, Dutch Offshore is steadily expanding its existing SENNEBOGEN fleet. Today, the fleet includes, among others, the 7700, 6300 HD, 6113 R, 6220 HD, 6180, and 5500 models.

“And we will continue to invest in SENNEBOGEN machines in the future,” said Michiel Zwagerman.

This latest investment underscores the long-term partnership between Dutch Offshore, SENNEBOGEN, and Van den Heuvel. Together, the companies are committed to providing high-performance solutions for offshore heavy-duty operations, dredging, and specialized maritime applications.

With the second SENNEBOGEN 6220 HD, Dutch Offshore is strengthening its international fleet for demanding offshore operations and creating additional capacity for future projects worldwide.
