To show you that all avenues will still be open to you after your apprenticeship at SENNEBOGEN and that you can launch your big career with us, we’ve prepared a few questions for Matthias Auer, Technical Training Director at the SENNEBOGEN Academy, who started out with us as an apprentice precision mechanic.
How did you find out about SENNEBOGEN, Matthias?
Pretty much by chance. I always liked building things, and my parents gave me the idea to apply at SENNEBOGEN.
Why did you decide on an advanced training course as a technician?
I didn’t just want to “tread water,” I wanted to keep pushing myself further. And that’s still the mindset I have now. You can never learn enough.
What prerequisites would you have to meet in order to start an advanced training course as a technician?
Completed vocational training with two years of professional experience in the field in question.
Why did you stay with SENNEBOGEN even after your correspondence course?
Well, to be precise, I was never gone. I completed the apprenticeship in distance learning alongside work over the course of three and a half years. I stayed at SENNEBOGEN because we have a great product that’s tangible, that we can experience ourselves, and that always keeps us excited for new things. Also, I always had the chance to make further progress at the company and it was never boring.
In light of your career, would you do the same thing again the same way?
You always learn from the past, but essentially yes.
What tip do you have for young people who don’t yet know exactly where they want to go with their career?
You should trust yourself to tackle things that might seem tough at first. Once you actually do it, it’s usually not nearly as hard as you might have thought beforehand – especially if you stay true to the guiding principle of our company’s founder: "There's no such thing as can't!"
An apprenticeship is in every respect a solid foundation for the further career. What you end up doing might also look completely different than that what you learned during the apprenticeship. Everyone forges their own destiny and if you want to accomplish something, you just have to buckle down and do it. Then everything is possible!
