Doubly qualified with dual curriculum

The combination of practical vocational experience and university education is not only increasing in popularity with high school graduates, but is also proving to be a really successful model for regional companies such as SENNEBOGEN. These specifically trained junior staff benefit right from the start from intensive training and familiarization, and are perfectly prepared for their job role.

The dual curriculum can be followed with a focus on the practical side or a focus on the apprenticeship side. Following the combined curriculum with an apprenticeship focus, students qualify over 4.5 years with two qualifications - a Bachelor’s degree and a training qualification from the IHK [Chamber of Industry and Commerce] or the HWK [Chamber of Crafts]. The practical oriented model offers a university degree and intensive hands-on experience, gained during university vacations and practical semesters. The innovative machine construction company from Straubing, Germany, SENNEBOGEN holds its collaboration with regional universities in Deggendorf and Regensburg in high regard. They have the common goal of keeping committed and talented potential students and school leavers in the region.

Degree course - Mechatronics and machine construction

SENNEBOGEN currently offers a combined degree in Mechatronics and machine construction. The two-tier program sounds challenging but for dual curriculum students it means killing two birds with one stone. After finishing his training, he began his mechatronics studies at the technical university in Deggendorf. During university holidays and practical semesters he works at SENNEBOGEN, in the Control Technology department and is learning how new functions are integrated into material handlers and cranes.

“Thanks to the intense practical experience, one or two of the tasks in my technical degree program have already felt a bit easier, as I already have some useful knowledge and have seen a lot of things in practice,” reports dual curriculum student Uwe Engelmann.

In any case, it is worth the effort. Dual curriculum students have a greater chance of being taken on directly, whereas other university graduates have to go through the application process first. And if the Bachelor’s degree qualification is not enough for you, there is always the dual Master’s curriculum with a practical focus to take things further.
