Quiet and energy-efficient: TSR Recycling relies on electrical scrap handling

Throughout Europe, TSR Recycling GmbH & Co KG (TSR) is the leader in recycling steel scrap and non-ferrous metals. For material handling the enterprise has long placed their trust in the SENNEBOGEN machines. Recently a new SENNEBOGEN 835 Crawler Electro was placed in service in Halle.

An electrically powered SENNEBOGEN 835 Crawler Special of the current E-series was recently delivered to the TSR subsidiary in Halle by SENNEBOGEN Sales and Service Partner, Tecklenborg Baumaschinen GmbH. The machine is impressive in size, however its machine concept and propulsion concept are even more impressive.
The material handling machine is powered by a 160 kW electric motor and its equipment is over 20 m in length. The machine's most important tasks are charging the scrap metal shears and loading rail cars and trucks. Moreover, thanks to the flexible crawler undercarriage the machine is also used elsewhere on the site. In order to be flexible, in spite of electric drive, the SENNEBOGEN 835 has trailing cable 35 m in length that permits a convenient work range. The plan is to also use the machine for mobile applications. Particularly in periods of reduced production, the electric machine should replace the existing diesel machines and thus save energy costs.

With 150 locations in Europe, Russia, and China, TSR Recycling is a worldwide leader and relies on sustainable solutions - also with regard to the material handling machines. Use of electric material handling machines saves up to 50% in operating costs, as compared to conventionally operated diesel machines; this was an important decision criterion. For operator and the responsible parties at TSR, particularly number the reduced background noise, longer service intervals, and continuous work without stopping to refuel, among the advantages of the new electric machine. When sorting materials and when charging the scrap metal shears the operator has an unobstructed view of his work area from the cab. The comfortable Maxcab, which can be elevated 2.7 m, with a straight armored glass windshield, together with an additional height increase of 3 m via pipe-pylon, offers the operator a view height of 8.80 m. An extensive lighting package and two surrounding cameras offer an optimal overview and the highest level of work safety. Additional walkways and railings on the uppercarriage ensure ideal accessibility and safe maintenance.
