Pick & carry machine in practical use: SENNEBOGEN 735 E-Series at Holz Weinzierl

At Holz Weinzierl in Vilshofen, the previous SENNEBOGEN 735 was already well known. Now the new generation of the pick & carry machine was able to put its ability to the test – an overall concept that was very convincing.

The family-run enterprise Weinzierl has been processing wood since 1936 in the Bavarian town of Vilshofen. A lot has changed over the 75 years of company history - from the work methods to the modern machines. Where the wood formerly had to be transported laboriously from the Danube to the sawmill, today trucks deliver wood daily from Bavaria and the neighboring countries. At Weinzierl, up to 650,000 solid cubic meters are notched every year. The assortments of spruce logs delivered here are increasingly unloaded with the company's own machines. For this and for the logistics in the log yard, the firm has been relying on the timber handling machines from SENNEBOGEN for some time. As one of our first customers, Weinzierl has consequently already been able to take a close look at the new generation of the 735 E-Series in practical use.

The current E-Series machine, equipped with a powerful 224 kW Tier IV diesel engine, puts its performance capability to the test, particularly when emptying the sorting boxes. Thanks to the 11 m long equipment and the rotating uppercarriage, the 735 can empty the sorting boxes on the left and right of the sorting line and safely reach beyond the line. This not only saves travel distance but also time. In this regard, the cab, rigidly elevated by 1 m, enables a direct view of the work area. The logs are then picked in mill decks in a two-shift operation. In this process, the pick & carry machine bridges a section of approximately 800 m with demanding inclines. A powerful all-wheel travel drive and two speed levels accelerate the 735 up to 20 km/h. With compact dimensions and the automatic direction of travel reversal, operators can easily and safely move far in between the mill decks, without having to maneuver. As a genuine pick & carry machine, the SENNEBOGEN 735 can safely move under full load. The rear-hinged, robust boom ensures optimal weight distribution.

Site foreman Klaus Urmann and CEO Hans Weinzierl Jr. give the SENNEBOGEN 735 top marks all round. Urmann reports that the new comfortable Maxcab with sliding door, step grid, and railing ensures maximum work safety. "Low fuel consumption, the good movement capability on inclines, and above all the maneuverability in the sorting yard quickly convinced us," adds Weinzierl.
